Read a post last week regarding getting pictures off of an HTC Dash. Here’s what I did without the benefit of being able to use the software from HTC that came with the phone. I had problems with reading the software disc, it needed a flash-player I couldn’t get to work. Since I couldn’t get the auto-play to work I went directly to Microsoft and searched for the Activesync software download. Once downloaded and installed, I could sync my Dash. Once the Activesync software is installed, one can now explore the drive on the Dash or find files on the external memory card if one is present. I have had complaints from fellow Dash users saying that finding files is difficult also. I found that the file hierarchy is difficult to understand and cumbersome but not impossible. The thing that I found helpful is to simply bypass the entire hierarchy and create my own on the external memory card. That way I know exactly where I have put everything and I can find what I am looking for either by using the “explore” function provided by the Activesync software, or right on the handset by opening the storage card folder on the HTC Dash. This way my files can be managed almost like on a PC. Changing the views on the Dash could be helpful in keeping track of where things are, not to mention the default for saving documents is to the device and not to the card. That has to be changed in order to help manage things like voice notes, word docs and pictures.

This is that class, and you don’t have to get up early on a Saturday and go to the Home Depot. We will delve into issues like cell phone radiation protection (the myth-the legend), electromagnetic protection, roaming and why did it take me a week to get that text, possibly a review or two, guest columnists and wireless industry return policies. If you are a Sam’s Club member and you go into a Sam’s Club or if you’re a Costco member and you shop for wireless phones at your local Costco Warehouse, make sure to ask about the return policy for their wireless phones and bluetooth products. Their return policies have changed recently, so don’t be blind-sided. I will also give some straight talk regarding why wireless companies don’t give you squat when you have been a loyal customer of theirs for 700 years. (Is that possible??). We will run the gamut as far as topics, and finding solutions. Wireless phones and the cell phone industry has become the industry we love to hate, but look where it has brought us.
